Winter Closure Announcement

Winter Closure Announcement – North America Amitabha Village

Dear Dharma Teachers and Dharma Friends,

With the completion of this Sunday’s seven-day Buddha Recitation Retreat (Fo Qi), all group practice activities for Amitabha Village in 2025 will likewise come to a natural close. Looking back over the year, Amitabha Village has been able to grow and operate only through the compassionate guidance of our Dharma teachers and the wholehearted support of devoted practitioners from all directions. Your kindness and encouragement have carried us through many challenges—our gratitude is beyond words.

Because the village is located in the mountains, winter often brings snow and ice, as well as the possibility of water or power outages. For the safety of all visitors and the stable operation of the monastery, Amitabha Village will enter its winter closure period starting January 5, 2026, continuing until the end of March (exact reopening time depends on weather conditions).

During the closure period, the monastery will not host group retreat events, will not provide shuttle service, and will temporarily pause long-term residential practice for outside members. The Buddha Recitation Hall will remain open daily when weather permits. Dharma teachers and devotees are welcome to stop by for worship, chanting Amitabha’s name, quiet cultivation, and merit-making.

A closed season is also a time for inward reflection, maintenance, and rebuilding. During this period, we will work as conditions allow to complete necessary repairs and improvements—hoping to preserve the tranquility and dignity of the monastery with steady and sincere effort, and to honor the faith and support of the community. Those who wish to volunteer as conditions allow may join the volunteer group to receive updates.

Amitabha Village is still learning and growing. If any arrangements in the past have been less than perfect, we sincerely ask for your patience, guidance, and kind understanding. We respectfully wish our Dharma teachers good health and the continued turning of the Dharma wheel. May all practitioners enjoy peace, stability, and deepened faith and aspiration.

When spring returns and blossoms open once again, we look forward to gathering together at Amitabha Village.
