The female monastic residence at North American Mituo Village had many long-neglected buildings. In order to provide a more comfortable resting place for the monastics, the management committee, despite facing financial constraints, made a significant decision. With a determined spirit and utilizing approximately $60,000 generously donated by devotees from all directions, they undertook a comprehensive renovation of the female monastic residence.
The original residence faced numerous issues, including uninsulated heating pipes, frequent blockages in the sewage system, drafty windows in winter, uneven floors, and non-straight walls. The renovation team, with the intention of supporting Mituo Village, worked tirelessly, putting in extra hours and making the best use of every donation. In just three months, they completely transformed the old residence.
The total renovated area was approximately 2000 square feet, with an additional 800 square feet of reinforced basement. Structural improvements included the installation of large beams and crossbeams. The outdated heating pipes were removed, and each room received new window air conditioners. All 18 windows were replaced, an additional toilet was installed, and one toilet and bathroom were renovated. LED lights were installed in all rooms. The carpet in one bedroom was replaced with new flooring, and two rooms had their ceilings redone. All walls and stairs were repainted.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the renovation team, the female monastic residence now shines anew. This renovation not only provides a more comfortable living space for the monastics but also symbolizes the prosperous future of Mituo Village.
