As the most significant project of 2024 in Mituo Village, the renovation of the Repaying Kindness Buddha Hall has been a major concern for every monk and layperson interested in the development of Mituo Village. Over the past weekend, this project made exciting progress. Thanks to the collective efforts of countless practitioners, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Wall in the east and west sections of the Buddha Hall has taken shape.

In order to have all the Buddha statues in place before the Mid-Year Buddha Retreat, the practitioners and volunteers in Mituo Village have been working day and night, writing a touching story with their sweat and dedication.

Since most volunteers have regular jobs and can only serve in Mituo Village on weekends, and with the Mid-Year Buddha Retreat approaching, everyone has been making the most of weekends without group practices to gather and push forward with the construction of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Wall. The Buddha Hall in Mituo Village is located on the second floor, and the building’s structure limits the entry of large machinery, so all the transportation of materials relies entirely on manual labor.

Each structural component weighs several hundred pounds, and these items are not ordinary goods; there are no standard procedures to follow. All the practitioners have been learning installation methods, discussing construction plans, and experimenting hands-on. With the blessing of Buddha’s power and the collective effort, a perfect plan was developed, and the main structure of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Wall was successfully completed. Truly, the saying "Three cobblers with their wits combined surpass one Zhuge Liang" applies here.

In the scorching summer heat, the temperature in Mituo Village exceeds 90°F, and the work on the attic roof is done in what feels like an "ultra-high-temperature sauna." The Ten Thousand Buddhas Wall project also involved challenges beyond the original plan, such as electrical modifications, window removal, structural assembly, and wiring. Even the manufacturers were unable to provide a complete solution due to their unfamiliarity with the electrical and construction environments in the U.S.

In recent weeks, many practitioners have eagerly participated in one round of work after another, whether on-site or behind the scenes, physically or intellectually, with no one retreating.

Particularly, the final group of volunteer practitioners worked tirelessly until 4 a.m. to ensure the progress of the project, only resting after completing all the main structure tests. Their hard work and dedication are truly moving. Special praise goes to those who have made selfless contributions, even suffering injuries, for the project.

This project is not only a physical construction but also a spiritual elevation. Every participant has experienced the joy of selfless giving and the power of teamwork. On this ancient land, Mituo Village's Repaying Kindness Buddha Hall is radiating new vitality and hope. The renovation of the Buddha Hall is not only transforming the building but also reshaping the cohesion and faith of the entire lay community. In countless late-night battles, practitioners supported each other, encouraged one another, and overcame one challenge after another. This spirit will be forever etched in the hearts of each participant, becoming the most precious memory of their lives.

In the future, Mituo Village's Repaying Kindness Buddha Hall will become an even more solemn and sacred place, providing spiritual refuge and wisdom enlightenment for more followers.
